CSI Tradewinds Greetings!
Stephen Nash reminded me that CSI Honolulu’s is scheduled to host the conference in 2013. That’s exciting and intimidating to think about that. But it’s always a great opportunity to connect with our fellow members in the different sectors of the building industry and share the knowledge we have – wherever it’s held. Well, as the fall season approaches, there’s a sense of change in the air. The weather is starting to cool a bit. Baseball season is winding down while football is picking up steam. I’m reminded that the holidays will be upon us in a matter of weeks.
It’s also the time of year when CSI Honolulu in conjunction with the AIA will be hosting the annual Pacific Building Products Expo at the Hawaii Convention Center on November 4th. This will be a special milestone year for the Expo as this will mark its 10th year! The yearly success of the Expo is not only due to loyal sponsors like HonBlue and companies that display their products, but also to numerous folks who volunteer to plan, organize and make the event happen. I urge all of you to support the Expo by helping out if you can. You can contact Barbie Rosario and Corrina Bailey who have stepped up this year to help organize it. And be sure to check out as many of the product booths as possible and thank each vendor for their support, especially during this tough economic time. Finally, as I think about the holiday season, reserve Tuesday evening, December 8 for our annual Christmas Party at the Plaza Club. This year we’ll have an auction where we’ll have great prizes. Proceeds will go towards our scholarship fund for a deserving recipient in the UH Architecture School. It should be a fun evening of food, drink, music and bidding…maybe for that special gift for someone special! There were a couple of moments worth noting for the Hawaii Chapter. During the Annual Meeting, the Honolulu Chapter was awarded a Special Commendation for its Hawaii Building Products Directory. Paul Kane, who tirelessly oversees this project annually, accepted this honor on behalf of CSI Honolulu. Aloha, |

I’m still reflecting on the CSI West Region Conference which I felt was a success despite the slow economy. I think we’re very fortunate to be in a region that has not only excellent venues for our conferences, but also diversity of chapters and dedicated members who serve CSI. I’m beginning to know more and more of these folks at each conference and admire their commitment to making CSI a success and value to our industry.
